No Dharma and No Sangha

There can be no Dharma, where women or men are detained. There can be no Dharma that is imposed by force, manipulation or lies.

No Dharma, no Sangha

No Dharma

Dharma is not the production of one to one and a half A4 paper length of Buddhist text per year in a fairly unclear Nepali translated by an American that contain enough times the words guru, maitri, compassion, peace and other keywords. It is not a few sessions of blessings per year. Speeches and so-called teachings, alone without any exchange or explanations, is just a mere make-up or thin paint to make it look like Buddhist, or look like Dharma. Add to this the various layers of incompetence, lack of any merit, switched off consciences of the inner circle of groupies, it breaks apart all the very letters of the word dharma, and throws the meaning of the word to a giant pit of futility.

There can be no Dharma, where women or men are detained. There can be no Dharma that is imposed by force, manipulation or lies. A puja which is unfolding while someone is chained, journalists are being attacked, is not a puja, it’s just a deceiving spectacle which hides a cruel and tragic flip side.

Pretending that it didn’t happen is not Dharma. Disregarding the suffering of those victims is not Dharma.

No Sangha

A Sangha is not the count of Facebook likes, or of followers on Social Media. A Sangha is not the recitation of Maitri Mangalam added on comments online. A Sangha is not about pretending the existence of branches all over the world with no one any where that has the capacity and merit to transmit a Dharmic teaching. A local Nepali Sangha is not the appointments of political or influential people at the head of local committees which are operated without any review or verification process.

Monks that receive no training, no education, no teaching, are just merely individuals wearing the clothing of monks. When monks are not real monks, and we have a Sangha that is not really a Sangha, a teacher that doesn’t really teach but rather keeps showing us what not to do, and where there is no Dharma, what do we have then? Let’s a cat a cat, it seems there is only ‘Facebook likes’, Followers of the virtual sphere of the Social Medias. Some call it just marketing, others might call it propaganda, some could even call it a business. Repeating the same sentences, and uttering more or less the same jargon doesn’t define any more this loose community as a Sangha.

What are the available definitions of a Sangha

On the website ‘Access to insight, the following definition is given:

In the suttas the word sangha (lit. “group, assembly”) is usually used in one of two ways: it refers either to the community of ordained monks and nuns (bhikkhu-sangha and bhikkhuni-sangha) or to the community of “noble ones” (ariya-sangha) — persons who have attained at least stream-entry, the first stage of Awakening. Link

The definition of ariya-sangha, according to the Mahanama Sutta:

“The Sangha of the Blessed One’s disciples who have practiced well… who have practiced straight-forwardly… who have practiced methodically… who have practiced masterfully — in other words, the four types [of noble disciples] when taken as pairs, the eight when taken as individual types — they are the Sangha of the Blessed One’s disciples: worthy of gifts, worthy of hospitality, worthy of offerings, worthy of respect, the incomparable field of merit for the world.” – AN 11.12

Conclusion

Can anyone among the inner circle of management claim to have attained any of those levels of practice? Has there ever been anyone taught by Mr Ramlal Bomjon who has achieved any level of Awakening that might be qualified to teach others in his turn? In the last nine years, a profusion of promises for the writing of a book, for teachings, for learning a mysterious Maitri language, for building a big Therthup Hall Temple, for Maitreya Statues, for saving the Halkhoriya forest, so many unfulfilled promises, which have not taught anything to anyone.

Manipulative Judge, Jury and Executioner

Mrs Judge, Jury and Executioner

From the earliest of times, Mrs Andrea Good, placed herself as the ultimate judge and jury and the executioner of punishments onto whomever is a threat to her ego or to her position. Already back in April 2009, we were blessed by the presence of an American really truly knowledgeable in Buddhism in the Google Group of that time. At that time she was a hybrid between a christian integrist and a new-ager, lighting candles for every silly circumstance and already placing herself as the ultimate leader of the group. This american whose Buddhist name was Sonam was giving wonderfully detailed and pertinent explanations that challenged everyone’s thinking. Another guy, who couldn’t grasp what was explained, reacted like we can all react sometimes, tells Sonam: “You need to get the fuck off your high horse…”.

Mrs Judge and Jury, cannot stand Sonam, he knows so much more than she does, he is kind, patient, open-minded, intelligent, knowledgeable about Buddhism, all the things she hasn’t much to show for. Instead of trying to learn something for herself, and welcome this type of rich discussions, she writes a summon:

Alright, alright, it is time to step in here and give a couple of warnings.

1. We do not attack other group members: Sonam, your approach to Lyndon today and yesterday constitutes an attack.

2. We do not use bad language… Lyndon has never had cause to use such language before. And he hasn’t. I believe he was provoked to do so by you, Sonam.

So I am issuing a warning to you, Sonam. You will have one more chance. If I have to warn you another time, and you are out. I’m sorry that it has to come to this. We have not had to do this in over a year, but I will ban you if your behavior becomes detrimental to the groups well-being.”

Sonam’s message

“Just to let you know, LTJ has kicked me off the Google Group. I pity her for the division and misinformation she is creating. Please stay in touch.

Sonam ”

Authoritarian manipulative moderation

Mrs Andrea Good has always been hiding behind her ‘position’ over a Google Group she created herself, and placed herself as the de facto ultimate authority, year after year we received complaints about her, but no one ever took any steps to make her see her tremendously negative impact on the entire community and mostly onto herself. We are also not her parents and she has the right to decide what is good for herself… but not what is good for others… Everyone keeps forgiving her, but she forgives no one, particularly not someone that threatens her position!

Dangerous abuses, control of devotees

Dangerous abuses, control over devotees

Mrs Andrea Good is involved in one of the most dangerous aspects of sects, the mental and psychological abuse over a group by raising pseudo precepts, which she herself breaks on a daily basis, but feels empowered to enforce on others. She has since the earliest times with this community placed herself above everyone else, and playing a very dangerous game of judge, jury and executioner with a good number of members of the community. Her actions amount to criminal deeds, particularly when these manipulate, distort, and affect the capacity of people to discern right from wrong, when involved in mind games and manipulations by someone who sells herself as the co-guru.

The following text written by Mrs Andrea Good illustrates both her mindset, but also the extent to which she goes in justifying, the detention of adults, the theft of their belonging as the confiscation of a toy, the belittling of human dignity through this public sermon of humiliation of the victims.

There is not the slightest trace of compassion in her actions, just an extremely dangerous deviant manipulation that creates drastic psychological and emotional impact on people in the community. Here is the text she writes  on 7th Dec 2012 in the public part of Google Group, under the title :

“Insight on the Glass Room”:

“Those of you in contact with Marici could remind her of this fact, as she is breaking “samaya” which is her agreement with the Guru in the form of the 11 precepts. It would be very helpful for her to recognize that she is “angry.”

She may go through many words to avoid admitting it. Each time she breaks “Samaya” she needs to go through the process of “repair” which is to openly show remorse for such a serious thing as breaking “Samaya” and this needs to become a habit with her. It needs to be called every time she breaks it….thousands of times if necessary.

Now, as to this post and its usefulness, here is another thing that we in the Sangha can concentrate on. We can, out of a sense of duty, when dealing with other Sangha members, tend to be heavy-handed. We learn these reactions in Society especially when bringing up a family, but it can lack the quality of “just love and trust that it will work out.”

And when it comes to absorbing harmful energy, (one knows when this happens as defilements can arise and cause us suffering when we are working with someone else, we unwittingly take on their karma and process) that the glass case with the smoker in it is a wonderful way to deal compassionately with this person and not inhale their smoke!

We can radiate love on all sentient beings. We can also imagine keeping such people who are processing in a glass room or just a “containment bubble” to keep their process in a defined boundary that does not spread harmful energy.

LoveTruthJoy”

Further Insight on the Glass Room

“When in the Sangha, it is vital that all speech is peaceful, truthful, and nurturing (constructive).

When allegations are made, the person making the allegation needs to understand that it is a very, very serious thing for that person and the Sangha, and that person needs to take responsibility for their speech.

Sarcasm and black humor is unwarranted under any condition. And when making a grave accusation, such sarcasm and black humor is simply a form of untruthfulness. Here are the basic precepts that constitute this person’s failure to upkeep samaya with the Guru.

Precept 3. Forsake lying, allegations, counter-allegations, belittling and spreading falsehood through baseless gossip.

Furthermore, the loss of this person’s machinery was a direct result of breaking the precepts.

If you find your child/shishya using certain technology to do something which is harmful to self and others, the Parent/Guru (under whose care she placed herself by her own will) removes the object. It is odd for the child/shishya to request the return of the machinery or the purchase of new ones so that she may do the same thing again.

We have been covering Attachment.

Negativity we have also covered.

Negative speech is the main part of Negativity, as negativity is expressed through speech. To avoid negative speech in others, especially in the Sangha it is good to remind them of the Aim.

If the habit persists, there is only one way:

Avoid them altogether.

You know in your heart what feels comfortable and true. If anyone makes you feel complicated and persists to do so, then they are not the Path.

All that is not the Path is best shunned…not read, not thought, not entertained. Avoided altogether.

Guru is here. He will take care of it. Do you Trust Guru?

If the answer is yes, stay.

If the answer is no, then it is time to find your own path and this Google Group is not for you.

Precept 4. Forsaking philosophies or ways that make boundaries of divisiveness and difference of opinion, take up the Satya Marga – The Perfect Path.

When we sympathize with such a person who is overcome by the need to express negativity, this sympathy is not compassion. We prolong that person’s pain by endorsing their personal drama and lead them to avoid contemplating the lessons in karma.

LoveTruthJoy”

Further Insight on the Glass Room continued

“Yes, and there was something else that happened that made this post very pertinent in another way, and it can help all of us.

Often we tend to easily absorb harmful energy from other people’s “process,” which is why certain members of the Sangha need to be “banned” because it is like someone in the family smoking in the living room. When someone is processing their deeply felt anger and negativity, they should not be positioned to harm other family members.

So, if they continue and show no remorse for their behavior, they cannot be in the family.

It doesn’t matter what the “content” is. That is the personal drama and karma. That person needs to take responsibility for the behavior that they are displaying in this very moment.

Furthermore we can take on that karma as the result is the most grave unwholesome action within the Dharma: separation within the Sangha.

We should avoid taking the karma of others until we have dissipated our own. A pure being such as a True Guru is capable of taking on the Karma of others, but it is also His choice in what way he will accomplish it. His choice is Pure Dharma.

LoveTruthJoy”

Conclusion

When Mrs Andrea Good attempts to brainwash people and to tell them who is in the family or who is out, she is breaking herself her own vows. She has no merit, no qualification, no authority, no knowledge that may allow her to be the judge and executioner over other members of the community or outside of the community.

All living beings are in one and the same family, excluding anyone is excluding herself from any practice of compassion. Ms Takacs which is called ‘Marici’ in the writings of Mrs Andrea Good, was detained illegally in 2012 in Halkhoriya. All her belongings were taken/stolen from her, these are the facts, the writings of Mrs Andrea Good are the justification and the distortion of those crimes into a mind game of her own construction.

Ivy Jugoa, aka Jyampa Lhaden, a dutch national from Surinam, an artist, and someone who likes to give interviews, advertise her future leader of the world, or maybe even worlds, Mr Ramlal Bomjon.

Director of the International Sangha

Another notorious member of the management group. A group almost exclusively composed by members whose probity, morality, ethics are being questioned here. Ivy Jugoa, aka Jyampa Lhaden, a dutch national from Surinam, an artist, and someone who likes to give interviews, advertise her future leader of the world, or maybe even worlds, Mr Ramlal Bomjon. I had a number of opportunities to talk with her over Skype. Back in 2013 she wanted to get a website for selling her paintings. She contacted me to try to get the on this website, but both Kim and I didn’t feel it would be appropriate to advertise her works on a website supposed to present ‘dharmic teachings’. Then Ivy started agitating some people from the community to open a european Sangha chapter. Decidely both Andrea and Ivy wanted their own branch office opened to shelter their glorious titles and ambitions.

Ivy goes around and gets her name and title on petition documents like this one: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/358/773/304/ , as “Ms. Jyampa Lhaden, Director of the International Sangha”. But what is exactly her responsibility, what are the rules of her engagement, what are her prerogatives? We could easily bet that no even she knows.

The best of all insights is the ones coming from just letting people express themselves with their own words. And Ivy doesn’t lack the amount of words, she has words for selling. She is a bit of a jolly go around, and brags loud and clear to everyone who listens to her, her precious opinions that have to be accepted as the absolute truth. This text below is a short clip where she justifies the detention of no less than two women, ordered by Mr Ramlal Bomjon, as something deserved.

In my own dealings with Ivy, when talking once about Ms Takacs detention, she started telling me how she would have liked to kick her ass. Later to explain her limitless devotion to Mr Ramlal Bomjon, she said she was ready to do anything for him, jump from a window, kill whatever. Then she added that this was her frame of mind before, but that now through the wisdom of Mr Ramlal Bomjon she had changed. The reality is that through any of her sentences all that she is showing is how she is a very unstable person, prone to a blind devotion that abstracts any sense of morality or ethics, all in the name of a cause that her own actions are totally betraying.

What are the lessons humanity is supposed to learn from people who use violence, verbal and physical, who condone the detention of adult women by their ‘guru’, involved in an organization supposed to promote compassion, but whose actions are harming the very meaning of that word?

For the part of the world that has a conscience, behaves morally and respects women, THERE CAN BE NO CIRCUMSTANCE UNDER WHICH DETAINING ILLEGALLY WOMEN IS ACCEPTABLE.

lovetruthjoy through her own writing

First a bit of context. The co-guru Andrea Good, was agitating her devotees in Japan for a long time as how the next step would be the creation of a Japanese Sangha. She was pushing for that process for a while, when she started taking the steps for registering such an organization in Japan. Pragya even went to Japan for that occasion and was handled like a servant by Madame the Co-guru. Andrea Good was trying to get money in any way shape or form she could. From Kim the up till now and maybe no longer President of BSDS she asked for money for the stay of Pragya, from her local devotees she was asking for money to pay for ‘her volunteer work’ as translator of one or two A4 pages of text, mostly done by actual Nepali (Rahul, Pragya etc…), but for which she needed the credit, and more than anything else the money. Om money padme hmmmm.

Throughout all those years I have been interacting (if we can call it like that) with Mrs  Andrea G., each and everyone of her actions visible and the less visible ones through others, were control, money, lies, self-delusion, and ego trips. She is actually convinced to do the right thing for a higher goal and that as such she is above everyone else. That is usually what is called fanaticism. That is the moment where your faith or what you believe takes over your conscience, moral principles and honesty.

You will see through her own words below in the full copy of her text, how she uses people’s devotion and her position to ask for money. She uses what was meant to be ‘volunteer work’ her donation to the Sangha as she calls it everywhere, to monetize her effort. When confronted with that, she just simply brushes the issue away and says, it ‘was my friends helping me’. Not for a split second does she even envisage that this is an abuse of her position, a deviated way of having others pay for your ‘donation of time’. But as time has shown, for all these years all that she has been doing is clinging to her position, ‘her powers’, perceived and imposed, and to her denials.

While trying to open a Sangha in Japan, she realizes having a legal organization imposes some restrictions in the way you deal with money, with legality, a structure and rules that need to be followed, you have to be able to finance such a structure, you have to have a real backing and support. Kim was insisting that things are done properly. Andrea didn’t like that. So the adventure of opening a Sangha had to be called off, and some explanations needed to be given to all those people waiting for that. This is in full the text Andrea Good writes to her closest following:

[buddhaboy] The situation in Japan

Dear Group,

I would like to give you an update of the situation over here and also make a request.  I’m sure all have been wondering exactly what became of our lives and the Japan Chapter after the return of Manu and Bhante. Our group was a little taken aback when it really came home that forming a Japanese chapter would mean submission of personal documentation both in Nepal and Japan and furthermore the complete formation of a “religious organization”, there being thousands in this country already with not a lot to boast about, but rather more to hide which means that such an organization would likely alienate more than it would welcome. It would also create the need for a lot of funding for office space.  For us, this simply did not “feel” right, nor given our present conditions, are we the most competent people to do this.  So, we decided to form a chapter of BSDS in the heart and to meet together and pick through Japanese translations and learn how to chant Maha Pranidhan. I think the majority of this group will understand our feelings, although this should not be taken in any way to be a separation, because it certainly isn’t.  So we have devoted our body, speech and mind to the sake of all sentient beings, and recognize that Guruji is giving us guidance through the heart.  We are also actively promoting Guruji’s cause among friends and relatives and online in Japan.

I have been struggling for some time also to pay my bills, and Sister Kidwen was extremely supportive, by paying most of Manu and Bhante’s expenses.  I am so grateful for this. My difficulties were somewhat exacerbated by several coinciding problems, the first, you all know occurred with the earthquake, tidal waves, and nuclear situation in Japan, which made most businesses except grocery stores suffer if not stop completely.  My own friends and customers were intimidated by the present situation.  Many came to the shop to discuss their problems and have tea (and I was very grateful for their company) and yet few were inclined to buy anything.  I also tended to retreat because I felt the need to concentrate on translating the Maha Pranidhan, so sometimes I simply hermitized 😉 for a few hours a day, assuming I would get into the swing of business again later.  Things continued in this way when my husband went to hospital where he remains.  I need to commute daily to take care of two apartments and make sure my children on both sides are fed.  Of course I am happy now because I enjoy much better relations with my family, and even feel eventually I will be able to leave this apartment to my increasingly independent son and return to care for my younger daughter and husband.  My husband was able to get leave over the past two days which were national holidays and all four of us were able to be together.  Although now I am twice as busy…and thanks to the help of the shop people who have gently led me back into being a full-fledged aromatherapist for the sake of the shop and my family, things are looking better.  So there are bright sides, and also realities that need to be faced.  One, I am two months behind on my family bills ($3,000).  The extra money that remained in Nepal is there for two purposes, some of that money ($1000) is being reserved to pay for Solar Energy once a decision is made by BSDS, and the remaining ($300) is to pay for extra expenses incurred by Dawa and or Marici who are spending so much time and energy to provide information and guidance to our group.

Given the situation, my husband’s continued hospitalization, and the needs of my family, I have decided not to attend Maha Darshan, but will probably revisit Nepal at a later time. Dawa has been praying very hard for us, my husband’s recovery and in the hope that one day my whole family wishes to go to Nepal with me. That would be wonderful. I certainly believe that this will soon be the case.

So I hope you will forgive me for reaching out to the group again for some support to help my family get back on its feet. I hope that we have been useful in providing the closest translations possible (thanks greatly to Rahul – I hope I will be able to send him something nice, even though he helps only with the sincere wish to understand Guruji.) The translations will continue beyond their publishing for Maha Pranidhan, and indeed beyond all publishing as I’m sure things will just keep popping up!  And, as always, I like to give in return to those who have been kindly helping out.  I still have just a few blessed strings left, but quite a few “The World in One Heart” (chants of the heart sutra from around the world) CDs produced by Imee Ooi, and also the Om Namo Guru Buddha Gyani CDs, so please feel free to ask for them, otherwise I will send you one of each CD, as I also have some stamps left as well to pay for the postage. Since my own paypal can no longer be used to send money to Japan, with kind permission from Sister Kidwen, she will gather any funds sent to me  via her paypal account (kim……@…….and she can forward them

once she returns from Maha Darshan

via the banks to my account in Japan, so please send me your name and address and a memo of the amount via email so I can send you CDs and a string if they are still left over.  Mark the purpose as for World Peace Prayers translation.

Thank you very much.  Sarva Mangalam Astu.

Maitri,

LTJ D (Andrea Good)

There is nothing to teach others when such a culture of dishonesty, abusive exercise of positions that were meant to be volunteer contribution.

There is no valuable moral stand to show when no one in those management positions has the courage to stop the abuses, when these people are telling everyone what to do and how they explain away crimes like unlawful detention, the confiscation of personal belongings from the women they detained, and ask from people things that they themselves cannot do.

Andrea Good aka lovetruthjoy aka Jyampa Dolma, holds tight to her position of co-guru, super translator, chosen one, vice-ruler of the sangha. Why?

Boundless stubbornness and huge ego

Andrea Good aka lovetruthjoy aka Jyampa Dolma, holds tight to her position of co-guru, super translator, chosen one, vice-ruler of the sangha. Why? Just follow the money trail and you will understand. All her trips to Nepal have been financed by devotees because of the way she presents herself to the community, as chief inquisitor, mother superior and super moderator of the Google Groups, deciding who can say what, when and how. Establishing her own rules, with an ego bigger than the Everest, she is holding tight to all her positions to be able to continue receiving financial support, plane tickets, and most importantly for her, probably as she puts it herself: “being the co-star of a fantastic unfolding story”.

Andrea Good controls the website Maitreya.info, the YouTube countless channels, Facebook and Google + pages, the Google Groups, all this propaganda arsenal at the service of her own ego, of her own mental constructs of what has become like a sect which she is shaping herself, and controlling.

In her book, she describes how she keeps building dramas, chapter 24, the title of the chapter itself is “Drama” and the text says:

Her book: Reflections on Sambodhi Dharma Sangha

“As you remember, I [Andrea Good] felt very foolish after having made up a story in my mind about the Dorje and coming to believe it. Why had I [Andrea Good] deemed it necessary to see a miracle? Because I [Andrea Good] wished to support the drama that I [Andrea Good] had come to believe without ever questioning the reasons I [Andrea Good] had for believing it. I deserved to have my kata thrown at me [Andrea Good]! But it was not necessary, I had trapped myself [Andrea Good]. My ego [Andrea Good] wished to make myself [Andrea Good] the co-star of a fantastic unfolding story, and this desire was deterring me [Andrea Good] from seeing what was really happening which was actually far more beautiful than anything I [Andrea Good] could concoct. If only I [Andrea Good] could see it with clear and unimpeded vision!

Shakespeare said that the whole world is a stage and that we are all actors on this stage. In a sense, he is right. But there is also a warning about taking this statement to heart. If we allow ourselves to be continuously creating a drama, we will produce much suffering.”

Her involvement in the translations despite not being a native Nepali speaker, despite not even being an average Nepali speaker, or despite not even being a poor level Nepali speaker, has been a continuous clinging onto the position despite and against any remark she could receive from anyone. There was a time we tried to send her translations done by native Nepali monks from a renowned monastery, people with PhDs, in collaboration with professional translators and in collaboration with Pragya, a great guy, who was treated with a lot of disrespect by her while she used him to help her translate and take on all the credits for it.

There was an exchange of emails while we were trying to have her accept cooperation from people more qualified than she was. But she defended her sacred turf at all costs. This is a small excerpt from an email from Kim the then president of BSDS after attempting to make sense with her:

Email between Kim, myself and Andrea

Kim writes to me:

She is running around a circle , give me this kind of answer. Read her mail below.

Pragya just told me that Andy starting flooding his mail box with questions and fixing script. Now I know she does that so that she can tell me, yah I get help from Bhante Pragya, I m not doing it alone…. So much ego, but it is fine, Guruji is testing all of us.

I just only ring the bell at her, but I stop here and let her continues the show, but at least Semyon and her will be alert about what they are doing. One time she told me and Ivy when we met in Nepal that:”I am just like Guru, the difference is I eat and he doesn’t!”. Both Ivy and I cannot believe what we heard. Ok, no more gossip.

MM, K.

See below the screenshots of the full thread of communication on that topic, the actors in it are the President then of BSDS Kim, and Andrea Good, unchanged since the very first days she got attracted by Ramlal Bomjon.

On another occasion I was sitting with Pragya and we had mostly finished working on the translations made by different translators, the monk, a professional nepali translator and Pragya himself, when Andrea Good was messaging to get words translated by Pragya. We had a great laugh. She can’t really make a translation on her own, it’s locals like Rahul, Pragya, Kishore and a few others that help her, and she always brags and attracts the credit to herself. She even used to sign all the translations.

We wanted more than anything that there is a proper review process of the translations. Even the original text had sometimes words missing, or when it came from a voice recording it was at times difficult to transcribe. But she always shows herself as the most capable and maybe the only one apt to do it. Humility, cooperation, compassion, forgiveness, are notions difficult for her even in English.

She is not the only problem, it’s a gathering of people who have turned off their conscience at the mercy of their own fanaticism, and are trying to shape everyone else to be like them. Instead of allowing for a participative emulation of the best in each and everyone, we get a group where the closest entourage of Mr Ramlal Bomjon emulates the worst possible behaviors, locked up in their mental spaces, incapable of cooperating or of questioning themselves and their own negative impact on the whole community. Instead of insight there is stubbornness and ego.

If this was just my way of seeing things with her, it would be not much relevant, but almost everyone I have been able to talk to and that knows her, has more or less the same experience of her. She never takes an extended hand for cooperation or even to discuss anything. The entire internet presence of what is supposed to be the organization of Mr Ramlal Bomjon, is run by her close minded convictions. She uses Semyon as to create in him also the same kind of fanaticism that she has, because she needs him.

Instead of trying to find a resolution with the victims that they have sown all around themselves, they are all camping on their positions, not ready to move the smallest finger towards reaching the state of peace and compassion that they are so vocal about, but that is totally absent from all their deeds.

Saved to die

It is an event that I have witnessed with my own eyes, the kind of event you’d wish never to have seen. It’s the account about the tragic death of the white horse of Ramlal. Somewhere in august-september 2013, many preparations were on-going for moving Ramlal and the monks to a new site. Things were organized in a sort of half secrecy typical with most of the people surrounding Ramlal, which is to say: “It’s a secret, I can’t tell you, but I will tell you anyway just don’t tell anyone”. That’s how most pseudo-secrets really quickly circulate and in the end most people know about those secrets. The secret then was the organization of a helicopter trip to Sindhupalchowk, and all the preparations of making a path through from the mountain top all the way down to where the next settlement would take place. There was a request to collect donations to pay for that helicopter trip, but up to the last moment there wasn’t enough money collected. When at the last moment, somehow money was found and the helicopter ride for him to Sindhupalchowk could take place.
I was in Katmandu then, and I receive a call from Dawa who asks me to go in town and buy some food for the horse of the Guru. As all the animals were to be ‘moved’ from the old site to this new site of Sindhupalchowk. I searched for dry rye knowing how they feed them with a lot of freshly cut herbs, that lack the minerals needed in a horse diet, bought carrots and apples, for both the monks and the horse and sheep and goat. And we are all preparing to get to Sindhupalchowk.
It’s a bit north-east of Katmandu, there is an easy part of the road until you reach a big river, cross its bridge and get on the foothill of a first mountain that requires a 4 wheels drive to cope with the tortuous terrain. Even with a 4 wheels drive, the journey is rough. We kept being thrown all over the place in the car, I hit my head against the top of the car quite a few times. And the drive is pretty long, as the road is alternating fairly correct parts with big holes, or a total washout part of the road. And then you start climbing and climbing, for what seems to take for ever. And we arrived around the time when darkness started to step in. We were almost at the top of the Badegaun hill or area, when the car had to stop. Ahead of us a truck seemed to block the road, a construction bulldozer was there on the side too. It looked like just a blocked road. When moments after that on our left side, I see a horse, attached with ropes around all his 4 legs, to poles planted in the ground. The horse had wounds all over the body. His eyes were so wounded he could almost not open them up to see through them. When I say the body and legs were covered in wounds, I literally mean this. My guess is that his bones were probably broken, which would explain why they tied him up to poles, to keep him upright standing. We ask what happened to the horse of the Guru? And we were told that the horse got wounded because he was in this truck and they had driven that same road we took with that truck and the horse behind.
What can I tell you? No wonder the horse got banged all over while in that truck. It’s not a transportation vehicle designed for carrying horse on tracks in the mountains. I couldn’t believe can be as stupid as this as to not even check along the way if something went wrong. But to get at the top of the mountain and just then realize they almost killed the horse. I am writing here ‘almost’, because at that part in the unfolding of events the horse was still alive. We discharged all the food and carrots we brought for the horse and gave it to a guy, who was by the horse and trying to make him drink a bit, or eat something. The horse of course, had probably no desire at all for any food. Food was the least of its worries.
The place is far from everything, it’s the night, I didn’t even think of taking a picture of that horse, I was so much under shock, I wanted to figure out how to get a veterinarian there. But as we couldn’t continue with the vehicles it was decided we go on foot from there to the house of Techu. We spent the night there, and the next when we reached the ‘Dharma Center’, we learned that the horse had died. Given the circumstances that’s probably only then that it was better for him.

Conclusion

It all started from an order of Ramlal Bomjon to get all the animals he is ‘saving’, to Sindhupalchowk. The end of the story is the tragic death of a beautiful horse, that was not properly taken care of. A horse meant to be ‘saved’, that encountered the most tragic possible death, due to the total inability of most of the people around Ramlal Bomjon, to recognize their own lack of skills, and to ask from people who have the skills to be helped. They are all in a frenzy to execute each and every wish of their leader, not even able to apprehend the magnitude of their limitations.
After that I heard some of the most stupid comments like the ‘horse was meditating before dying’. It was his karma. And the list of justifications that were given is endless. Not even worth relating. But never ever do I encounter within the people responsible for the most dramatic events around Ramlal, wonder what they themselves did wrong. What is their responsibility? All the energy of the group is deployed in covering up, finding super-natural reasons to plainly stupid actions.
